What college means to me
College to me, is a place to further my education and be successful to be able to have the career I dream of having. College is also a place to meet new people and possibly form life long relationships with them. Overall, it's a very new exciting journey that I have begun. Right now I am starting my four years to get my bachelor's degree in early childhood education. After I graduate with my degree, I want to continue my education even further and go back to school to get my master's degree in speech pathology. After I get my master's degree I hope to get a job working in either a school system or a children's hospital setting as a speech therapist for young children. I'm very excited to be getting educated at SCSU for this particular career because they have a great speech program here. I will need to work very hard to get into the speech therapy program, but that is just more motivation for me to do my very best and work my hardest. Currently, my goal for the semester is to keep my grades up and make the dean's list and for every other semester following. Other goals I have are to become involved in many clubs and activities so I can meet people and learn new things and work with others doing something we all enjoy as an activity. I expect my classes not necessarily to be hard but for the workload to be heavy and consistently heavy, so I need to transition and manage my time wisely. My first impression when I hear the word college I automatically think of all the fun things and new opportunities I will have and just the experience of finally living on my own with friends. That's not all I think about though when I hear college. I know the work is very different from high school and so are the teaching methods from high school teachers to professor's. At first that thought scared me but I now know all of my professor's and for the most part can tell their teaching styles. I think I will adjust well and I aspire to have a great experience and go for all of the things I want to do and I hope my end result is the one I am reaching for.
